Hhhmmm, let's see.where should I start? After graduation, I worked for GLRVTS as a teacher aide for a year. I really loved and enjoyed working with the students and staff but for personal reasons I did not continue this path. I have many regrets not pursuing the teaching career. Twelve years later, I'm a husband and a father of 2 beautiful girls. They are 4½ and 1½ years old. I am currently working as a Technical Analyst managing NT domains and Network infrastructures (Cisco routers and switches) for a company in Wakefield, MA. Don't be a stranger, drop me an email. :) |

After graduating from the electronics department I continued my education at Middlesex Community College from 1991 through 1993. In 1993, I graduated from MCC with an Associates degree in electronics and set out to find employment in my field of study. Due to the remarkable training that I received at Greater Lowell Technical High School and at MCC I started my career at M/A-Com in 1993 doing Integrated circuit design. In 1996, I left M/A-Com and headed to Sipex Corporation where I was hired as a senior IC designer until the latter part of 1996. From 1997 to the present I have been employed as a design and drafting specialist at Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Corporation in Nashua, New Hampshire where I have been participating in exiting projects including the new F-22 Raptor fighter plane, Advanced Threat IR Countermeasures System (ATIRCM), tri-service Common Missile Warning System(CMWS), the current space shuttle, and the X-33 (Venture Star) the next generation space shuttle. I now plan on furthering my education at the University of Massachusetts attending the bachelors degree program in electronics at night. |

So much has happened since graduation that it's hard to choose what to write about. I'll start after graduation. I got a degree in fine art where I discovered two things about being an artist. First, art is 75% preparation, 15% perspiration and only 10% inspiration. The spark is beautiful to behold but soon it's a memory and the endeavor, or process to recreate, or represent it after the fact, is what the artist lives for. The artwork is a symptom of the disease and not the disease itself.Second, for me art is a state of being and not a state of mind. It's how you do and see everything. There's no pill or drink you can take to become an artist or create great works of art. That's how it sits in me anyway. While in college I discovered pastels and began to paint incessantly. I freelanced for a while but didn't enjoy painting on demand. So, I soon decided to continue painting for my own release and went to work as an area manager for a retail art dealer. I worked there for almost 8 years, mostly in the northeast but traveled quit a bit on the west coast. During that time Kelley (Joyce) and I got married. We had been together for nine years at that point. A few years after we got married we had our first son, Joshua. We settled in Dracut, Ma and a year and a half later had another son, Jacob. Kelley, who got a degree in business, opted to stay home with the boys while they were young. She's currently back in school and doing remarkable. I was never the academic student she is, as my transcripts will attest. After almost eight years of selling art, the lifestyle was no longer conducive to my family life and I made a drastic change. Both of my children were diagnosed with autism and I needed to be far more available to them and Kelley then my career would allow. So, per Kelley's suggestion, I took a 50% pay cut and went to work as a one on one teacher's aid at my son's school. It was hard on the wallet but I was never happier in my work. I did that for six months and then applied for a position as a Career Development Specialist working with adults with disabilities and I have been doing that for almost three years. I absolutely love it. The human service world is a whole different way of looking at life.Recently Kelley and I have purchased a home in Fitchburg, Ma and things are going good with the house so far. The kids have adjusted and we have family and friends (other alumni of GLRVTS 1991) who live nearby as well. That's it, I think? I wish the best to you all and if we ever have a reunion I hope to see you there. D G O A D |

After graduating in 1991, (wow-- so long ago !!) I received my degree in Legal Executive Assistant, and worked for 2 law firms. I was then promoted to a casualty claims adjuster for a large insurance company in Westford MA. I was there for 10+ years, when the company closed in Dec 2005 and I was laid off. I took a few months off and got a job as an office manager for a small excavating co, when I again- got laid off. Now I am in the process of interviewing for a new job- back in the insurance field & going back to college to obtain my paralegal certificate. I also work part time at the NH State Liquor Store. In between all that, I was married for 5 1/2 years and have beendivorced for 5 years now (kid-free). I bought my own condo in 2005 which I am very proud of. It was great to read all of the excerpts from my fellow graduates. I wish EVERYONE the best! |
