Your Role and Responsibility as a Team Member

Your supervising instructors will set-up an initial meeting with all the students who will be working on the community service project. This is your opportunity to get to know your team members. Your instructor will allow each member of the group to share their experiences, knowledge and expertise. This will enable the group to better split up the assignments associated with the project. For example, students who feel more comfortable talking will be assigned to communication assignments, while others who enjoy working on the computer will be given computer related assignments. It is important for each member of the group to understand that a successful project outcome will depend on the team’s ability to work together towards a common goal. As a team you will be responsible for:
• Selecting a Project Leader
• Selecting a Project Historian
• Selecting a Project Technician

Responsibilities of the Project Leader
The Project Leader will be responsible for maintaining a daily journal of activities that ensure team members stay on track with assigned activities. The Project Leader will be responsible for accessing each member’s weekly contribution to the group project. The Project Leader will be responsible for communicating with the supervising instructor on a daily basis as to how the group is progressing.

Responsibilities of the Project Historian/Recorder
The Project Historian will be responsible for maintaining a daily journal of activities that ensure team members stay on track with assigned activities. The Project Historian will be responsible for documenting each phase of the project. The Historian will have access to a digital camera, and a video camera to assist them in visually documenting the group activities.

Responsibilities of the Project Technician
The Project Technician will work with all team members to ensure that all presentations given to the client will be multi-media based. The Project Technician is encouraged to work cooperatively with the project historian.

Responsibilities of the Team Members
In addition, as a team, you will be responsible for selecting individual responsibilities for each member of the team. This will ensure that everyone shares in the responsibility of a successful project outcome.
