The Distinguished Alumni Award was created in 1986 to honor graduates of Greater Lowell Technical High School for outstanding achievements in business, industry, the military, in the community, or other areas of pursuit. Each year, a committee of faculty and administrators meet to select the recipients from a group of nominees. Individuals may be nominated by anyone familiar with the accomplishments of the nominee. Winners have been nominated by parents, friends, business associates and former teachers. Once nominated, an individual is retained in the pool of Nominees and is reconsidered on an annual basis. Nominees do not have to be working in the technical area, which they pursued while a student at GLTHS. Winners of the award include Attorneys, Builders, Filmmakers, Plumbers, Teachers, Business Persons, Accountants, Stylists and Clergy to name a few.
