The Massachusetts Department of Education, Vocational Technical Teacher Testing Program's role in the teacher licensure process consists of assessing the candidate's minimum competency in Vocational or Technical areas by administering both Written and Performance Exams.

The Testing Program’s hours of operation are weekdays from 8:15 a.m. through 3:15 p.m.

• Candidate Handbook  The Handbook contains detailed information on the Vocational Technical Teacher Testing Program.  Candidates are strongly urged to keep it on hand as a reference to be used to answer any questions that they may have regarding the testing process for Vocational Technical Teacher Testing Program Written and Performance Exams.

• Candidate Test Registration (pdf) To register for a written and/or performance exam you need to print the registration form and mail it to our office along with your exam fee.

DATES OF IMPORTANCE

JULY 2007 THROUGH JUNE 2008

WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS (W)

All written exams will be scheduled on Saturdays at 9:00 AM at the Greater Lowell Technical High School in the Testing Center, Room 3260, 250 Pawtucket Boulevard, Tyngsboro, Massachusetts.  Registration will be in the school’s lobby beginning at 8:00 AM and ending at 8:45 AM.

PERFORMANCE EXAMINATION (P)

Listed performance exam dates are held on Saturdays at 9:00 AM; registration at 8:30AM.  Candidates will be notified in writing regarding test location, date, and time by the Massachusetts Department of Education, Technical Teacher Testing Program.

A performance exam will be administered in each round for every test area in which at least three candidates are registered.  However, a performance exam will be scheduled at least once during the school year in every vocational technical licensure area.  Please consult the candidate handbook for more information regarding the performance examinations.

Upon receipt of your completed Registration Form and Exam Fee you will receive an Admission Package that will include an outline that is appropriate for the Written or Performance Exam that you are registered to take.
