·   Chemical Examination of Urine and Instruction of Clean Catch Specimen Collection

·   Assist with Dressing and Undressing Needs of a Client

·   Application of an Compression Bandage

 

13% - Rehabilitative Nursing

·   Range of Motion

·   Transfer Client using Transfer Belt

·   Positioning

 

5 %- Assist Client with Nutrition and Hydration

·   Convert, Calculate and Document Intake and Output

 

8% - Medical terminology

·   Medical Abbreviations and Definitions

·   Knowledge of Safety Procedures

- Demonstrate and follow safety guidelines according to CLIA, CDC, MSDS, and OSHA standards

 

UNIFORM:

 

Candidates WILL NOT be tested unless a clean, professional uniform is worn, which is a Scrub Top and Pants (white or solid colored ONLY) and white nursing shoes (no open toes) are worn.  Hair must be worn pulled back and up off the shoulder.  No jewelry other than wedding band and one pair of stud earrings are to be worn.  No artificial nails will be allowed.  Length of nails is at working length and may not exceed the tip of the finger. 

 

BASIC EQUIPMENT REQUIRED (CANDIDATE MUST SUPPLY):

·         Stethoscope

·         Safety Glasses (worn as needed)

·         Pens and Pencils


 

ADDITIONAL LAB EQUIPMENT/SUPPLIES WILL BE PROVIDED.

NO BOOKS OR NOTES WILL BE ALLOWED.

 

 

**Candidates must bring a person dressed to act as a client for those aspects of the test as required.  Client must not be in the Medical Field, be 18 years or older, and must wear short sleeved loose top and loose fitting pants (NO JEANS).

The Performance Examination is aligned with the matching Massachusetts Vocational Technical Educator Frameworks.  Most exam tasks require a synthesis of knowledge based on vocational technical work experience.  As a result we highly recommend that Performance Exam Candidates possess the required years of related work experience as well as the appropriate industry recognized credentials as outlined as requirements for preliminary vocational technical educator licensure.  Candidates are also encouraged to prepare for their exams by reviewing current textbooks and reference material which can usually be found in the libraries of most Vocational Technical Schools and Schools which offer Chapter 74 Programs.
