Salk, creator of the polio vaccine. The program looks at differences between DNA and RNA viruses, like HIV and influenza; the rotavirus, which kills five million children annually; and the incredible victory of the World Health Organization in completely eradicating smallpox.
V.T. 8642 UNDERSTANDING BACTERIA
Summary: How do benign bacteria work? How are infectious bacteria fought? And how are scientists adapting both types of bacteria to good or evil uses? This program answers those questions through the observations and insights of Stanley Falkow, president of the American Society for Microbiology; Fred Tenover, chief of antibiotic resistance investigations at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and other specialists. The role of E. coli in digestion, the relationship between H. pylori and ulcers, medical applications of C. botulinum, the use of bacteria to clean up toxic waste, the exploitation of anthrax as a weapon, and the discovery of extraterrestrial bacteria are all considered.

V.T. 8648 PALEO WORLD
Summary: Is evolution a steady march of "progress"
with Man at the top of the family tree? Or is it a rambling expansion filled

In addition, we discover how our muscles and associated tendons and ligaments are constructed to allow them to change shape functions, as well as how bone growth occurs.
Part B - The nervous system
Summary: This part of The Human Body series explores the brain, spinal cord, nerves and the trillions of neurons, or nerve cells, that make our bodies uniquely human. Experts in neuroscience help us understand why the human brain is a marvel of structure and function. Viewers learn about left brain and right brain activities and the purpose and function of the cerebellum, cerebrum, cranial nerves and other parts of the brain. The program also examines the interaction of the spinal cord and nerve endings, as well as fascinating concepts like involuntary and voluntary brain activity and reflex and feedback functions.

Using animation combined with live-action footage and commentary from medical specialists, this program illustrates how the major systems and organs function. Viewers learn how the reproductive system generates new life and how the stomach, intestines and other organs of the digestive system convert solid matter into the fuel of life. We also discover how the lungs and respiratory system take in oxygen that sustains life, and how the heart and circulatory system connect all body systems, providing a delivery system for the oxygen. V.T. 8666 INSEALTION SYSTEM AND THERMOGRAPHY
Summary: Comparison shows the difference between glass fibre insulation and Icynene insulation (soft spray foam). Icynene insulates & "draftproofs" a building at the same time. Its performance is less installation sensitive than factory manufactured insulation materials. It is an effective "breathing" air barrier that can adjust with the building to maintain a seal against energy-robbing air leakage for the life of the building. Convective air movement inside wall cavities is virtually eliminated, providing more uniform temperatures throughout the building. The result is superior quality construction, with higher comfort levels at lower thermostat settings and lower heating and cooling costs.
