THE RETIREES  2002-03

Jean is the new girl, having been the library secretary for only 19 years.  Each has a different personality; Joanne thoughtful, Jean cheerful, and Bobbi outspoken.  However, each is extraordinarily similar in their approach to the students and faculty.  They are caring, concerned, courteous and kind.  Joanne, Jean and Bobbie always went out of their way to make sure that any request from a member of the school community was promptly taken care of.  These three staff members helped establish the library media center as a place where everyone was welcome.

Bobbie TharpeBOBBIE AN ORIGINAL MEMBER OF THE STAFF
Bobbie Tharpe is an original member of the staff, having started in the food service department before moving to the library.  She came to the library as an SMC Aide and is retiring as the voice of Media Retrieval.  She could always be counted on for an honest opinion, even when the librarian might not have wanted it.  Bobbie is very dedicated and helped attract many teachers to the library who were reticent to use it's services.

Jeannie SullivanALTHOUGH RETIRED STILL WORKING PART-TIME
Jean Sullivan is the nicest person I know.  Everyone could learn the benefits of a smile and a kind word from Jeannie.  She came to work as the library secretary from a CETA project and has carved out a niche of uncompromising efficiency and kindness in a sometimes hectic atmosphere.  Although retired, she continues to work part-time continuing as a beautiful ray of sunshine each day. She has made people think her boss actually knows what he is doing.  Because she is so valuable he hopes she will never leave.

THE LAST OF THE ORIGINAL SMC AIDES HAS RETIRED
Joanne McNamara, a member of the library media center staff since 1975, retired  December 31, 2002.  She worked in several SMCs but spent the majority of her career in the Construction SMC.  She was an integral member of that cluster and could always be counted on for assistance beyond her regular library duties.

Joanne was a very bright individual who had excellent insight into everything from book processing to people.  Her opinion always mattered to the librarian.  It is far too difficult to express in a piece as brief as this Joanne’s importance to the library media center, the construction cluster and the school.  Day in and day out she worked hard to help everybody.
