Activity #2:
In Table 1 which follows a step by step procedure for entering and solving a subtraction problem by using the memory function keys is outlined. Comments describe what is happening inside the calculator.
PROBLEM: Maria purchased a $300 sofa and a $150 chair for her living room at a warehouse sale. The sofa is half price and the chair is reduced by one third. How much will she pay for both items?

One: When the memory is accessed an 'M' will appear above the display. This indicates that the number on the display when the M+ key was pushed was added to the memory storage area. The same thing happens in steps 5,6 and 8 as the addition and subtraction takes place in memory.
What follows on the next page is an exercise that gives you the steps needed to solve some simple problems using the memory function keys. You are required to use the given steps in the order shown. The semicolon symbol ' ; ' is used to separate the steps in solving the problem..
