COURSE TITLE: Algebra I
AUTHOR:
Marilyn McLaughin

TOPIC: Probability
Performance Objective: You will determine the probability of certain events. The performance objective is aligned with the MCAS standards.
Math Standard: Understand and apply basic concepts of probability.
Activity #1:
Directions: In this activity you will calculate some simple probability problems. You will also copy definitions about probability into your notebook. The definitions you will copy will be available when you log on to the web site in Activity #2.

Activity #3:
Example 1: When you solve ratio and proportion problems, you will set them up as a comparison of two ratios.
2 black cats to 6 total cats = x black cats to 78 total cats
2 = x
6 78 next, multiply the cross products, 2 times 78 = 156
then divide by the number you haven't used yet, which is the 6 - 156 divided by 6 = 26.
Therefore, the ratio of all black cats to a total of 78 cats is 26 black cats.
