About The Library...
The Library Media Services Department at Greater Lowell Tech contains one of the largest and most comprehensive collections in a technical secondary school in the country. It provides students with a wide variety of resources that are integrated into the curriculum and learning activities to help them become lifelong learners and discriminating users of information. The library contains material for the school's academic areas of study, as well as, general reference material and current and archived periodicals.
The IMC (Instructional Media Center) is located on the third floor in the center of the building. This area houses Media Retrieval Center (which sends video programs out school wide), two Computer Labs, the Television Studio, and the Media Preparation Room (photography, laminating, transparencies, cataloging of materials, etc.).
The Satellite Media Center on the second floor houses two classrooms available for teacher/student use - each equipped with Smart Boards, laptops, big screens, and TV monitors.

Why the Internet Is No Substitute for a Library from 'American Libraries
“School libraries help teachers teach and children learn. Children and teachers need library resources--especially books--and the expertise of a librarian to succeed. Books, information technology and school librarians who are part of the schools' professional team are basic ingredients for student achievement."
