In this shop students will have the opportunity to explore the various careers available in the masonry field. Projects included in the shop are bricklaying, paving techniques, block bonding, types of jointing and how to plan concrete flatwork. In their final year of the program, students will learn the principles of concrete formwork, design and construction of footing and foundations, columns, beams and lintel design and chimney design, fireplace design and construction, brick walls and partitions. Occupations available in this field include building inspector, general contractor, project estimator, and masonry contractor. |
