The student must be a resident in one of the following towns in order to be eligible: Dracut, Dunstable, Lowell, Tyngsborough

Our first round of decision letters will be mailed to students by the second week of March for those applicants that applied on or before February 1st. A second round of acceptances will be sent after that.

The student will follow the same processes as a student that attends one of the district’s schools. They will complete the application and then either return it to Greater Lowell Tech or their school counselor or principal.

No, there is no interview as part of our admissions process.

Final grades in English, math, science and history as well as attendance and discipline records from grade 7 will be reviewed. Additionally, grades from the first two quarters of grade eight along with attendance and discipline records will be reviewed. Please see the Admission Policy for more details.

Yes, subject to the availability of openings. Similar to 8th grade students looking to apply to GLT as a 9th grader, the student must obtain and complete an application.

Admission reviews five criteria: Scholastic Achievement, Attendance, School Discipline/Conduct, and the Local Sending School’s Recommendation.

During the month of October representatives from GLT visit each district middle school. Tours at GLT are conducted in November and December for all 8th-grade students that wish to attend. In January there is an Open House/Parent-Applicant Night. February 1st is the date for our first round of admissions. All fully completed applications are reviewed and decision letters will be mailed at the beginning of March.

For students that apply on or before February 1st, our first round of decision letters will be mailed by the second week of March.

Each year, Greater Lowell Tech accepts approximately 570 students for the freshman class. Once we have reached capacity, any student that has met the criteria necessary for admission will be placed on a waitlist. Students are then accepted from the waitlist as soon as space becomes available.

YES! In fact, not only can you go to college, you will be more prepared to face the challenges college courses will present. Every high school graduate across the country can be considered "college eligible." At GLTHS we are working, engaging, and encouraging students to be "College and Career-Ready." Our students not only have the course work required, but they also have the critical and creative thinking skills and problem-solving skills to be successful.

All students in grade 9 will explore our 23 technical programs before making their final four choices in the fourth quarter of their freshman year. Students spend 6 days, 2 periods each (88 minutes) in each of the exploratory programs. This allows students to make a well-informed decision when choosing the technical program that they will spend the remaining three years of high school pursuing.

The Cooperative Education Program is a highlight of vocational technical education. This program allows students to acquire a job in their career/technical area in which they can attend during their shop week. Students are eligible to participate in COOP in the third quarter of their junior year.
