Updated COVID-19 Testing Program
Greater Lowell Technical High School has made the decision to shift to the new COVID-19 Testing Program recommended by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Public Health (DPH) effective February 28, 2022. Keeping your students safe and in school is our top priority. This program will increase the testing of our participating students and staff, regardless of vaccination status.
The new At-Home Testing Program is voluntary and will only be available to those students and staff who opt-in. In addition to this new at-home antigen test option, we will continue with routine COVID safety checks (pool testing) and/or symptomatic testing. As part of this shift in the program, we are discontinuing Test and Stay and contact tracing for in-school close contacts. This means that if your child is a potential contact in school, they may continue to come to school and do not have to quarantine.
The Updated COVID -19 Testing Program consists of the following components:
- At-home Rapid Antigen Testing (Test Date Distribution List - Click Here):
iHealth is a 15-minute at-home FDA Emergency Use Authorized antigen test.
To participate, you must opt-in by completing the online form which has been emailed directly to you. If you did not receive the form please click here. By opting in, you will agree to review the training materials for test administration, and administer the tests according to Greater Lowell Technical High School District’s guidelines:
Test kits (containing two tests) will be distributed biweekly to staff on Thursdays and to students on Fridays who opt into the program. Students and staff will use the iHealth Rapid Test Kit at home prior to school on Monday each week. Students should report positive test results to one of the school nurses listed below. Staff should report positive test results to the Director of Human Resources.
