Curriculum Office

The Curriculum Office at Greater Lowell Technical High School supports curriculum, instruction, and assessment across academic and career and technical education (CTE) programs. Our work helps ensure that every student engages in high-quality learning experiences aligned with state standards and is prepared for success in college, career, and citizenship.
The Curriculum Office supports advanced and rigorous coursework and enrichment opportunities, including Early College, Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), and Project Lead The Way (PLTW). The office also supports the CTE Exploratory Program, a required experience for all ninth-grade students that helps them identify the CTE program best aligned with their interests, strengths, and future goals. In addition, the office oversees the Summer Enrichment Program, which helps incoming students from our sending communities transition successfully into ninth grade at Greater Lowell Tech.
In collaboration with teachers, administrators, and district partners, the office provides support for curriculum development, instructional practices, professional learning, MyCAP implementation, program evaluation, and the integration of research-based strategies and educational technology. This includes promoting project-based learning (PBL) as an instructional approach that enhances engagement, supports deeper learning, and connects academic content to real-world contexts. These efforts help strengthen and align teaching and learning across the school.
The Curriculum Office also collaborates on the district’s state accountability responsibilities as outlined by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This work includes coordinating Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) administration, reviewing accountability targets, preparing progress reports, and analyzing data to identify growth opportunities and inform instructional planning. The office also provides assessment and accountability reports and updates to various stakeholders. In addition, the Curriculum Office facilitates the implementation of the updated Competency Determination (CD) process required for graduation.
