Nursing Graduates

The Greater Lowell Technical School of Practical Nursing is a 40-week, full-time Certificate program with 1,097 hours of classroom and 504 hours of clinical instruction. Clinical experience is designed to assist students in the application of classroom theory within various healthcare facilities in the community. After completing the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council of Licensing Examination for Practical Nursing. To accommodate diverse schedules, both a daytime and an evening division are offered. Every August, 40 students are admitted to each division for a total enrollment of 80 students. The application and testing process begins in December for the following August class.

Class of 2021 - 65 Graduates - 93% first time NCLEX Licensure pass rate; 95% Placement rate

Class of 2022 - 63 Graduates - 84% first time NCLEX Licensure pass rate; 95% Placement rate

Class of 2023 - 66 Graduates - 86% first time NCLEX Licensure pass rate; 89% Placement rate

Effective August 9, 2024 this nursing program is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.  This candidacy status expires on August 9, 2026.

Greater Lowell Technical School of Practical Nursing is fully approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education.

The institution is applying to become a candidate for accreditation or for initial or reaffirmation of accreditation with the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education.  In addition, it states that persons wishing to make comments should either write to the Executive Director of the Commission, Council on Occupational Education, 7840 Roswell Road, Building 300, Suite 325, Atlanta, Georgia 30350, or submit their comments through the Council website (www.council.org).   Persons making comments have provided their names and mailing addresses.

Graduating from Greater Lowell Technical School of Practical Nursing will qualify a student to work in Mass upon successful attainment of licensure.  Individuals intending to practice outside of Massachusetts can refer to the NCSBN web site (NCSBN.org/14731.htm)  and should discuss with the Director of the school about the applicant's ability to license in a state other than Massachusetts.
