Membership Information
NHS/NTHS is a merit-based service organization that students are selected to join. Invitations are automatically sent to students who meet the criteria below. Students invited to join will be notified by email in August prior to starting their Junior and/or Senior year at GLTech. Those students will then be asked to complete an application and only students who fully complete the application will be considered for membership. The application will be scored by the faculty council to assess the candidate’s professionalism, school and community involvement, service record, and other qualities.
Since this is a service organization, all members are expected to have a record of community service, and continue to participate in community service.
Membership Criteria
To join, students must:
- Have a GPA of 3.8 or higher.
- Have fewer than 8 absences during the previous academic year.
- Have NO Main Office referrals related to disciplinary action
To maintain membership, students must:
- Have a GPA of 3.7 or higher.
- Have fewer than 8 absences during each year of membership.
- NO discipline referrals.
- Attend every other large group meeting.
- Provide 10 hours of community service per quarter of membership.
- Service includes two school-based events during each school year (such as Back-to-School Night, Open House, etc.
