Freshmen Exploratory Necessities

Many of Greater Lowell’s career and technical programs require certain clothing or Safety items in order for students to fully participate. Below is a list of our career and technical programs and the necessary items they require for freshmen students to participate fully in their exploratory classes. This required Clothing is mandatory basic safety. All freshman students are provided with a pair of safety glasses at the beginning of the exploratory period.

  • Advanced Manufacturing: Safety glasses, no hooded sweatshirts or loose clothing, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), Closed-toe Sneakers or Work Boots only (No Crocs, sandals, or slippers)
  • Automotive Collision, Repair and Refinishing: Safety glasses, no hooded sweatshirts or loose clothing, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Automotive Technology: Safety glasses, no hooded sweatshirts or loose clothing, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD): No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • Carpentry: Safety glasses, no hooded sweatshirts or loose clothing, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Cosmetology: Long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Culinary Arts: Long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.  Students with long fingernails must wear food service gloves (provided by school). Eyelash extensions are not allowed.  Hair Restraint provided by school.
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE): No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • Electrical: Safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Electronics Engineering: Safety glasses, long pants, work boots or sneakers only (No Crocs, sandals, or slippers)
  • Engineering Technology: Safety glasses,  long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only (No Crocs, sandals, or slippers)
  • Graphic Design and Visual Communications: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • Health Assisting/Pre-Nursing: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • HVAC/R: Safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Information Technology Services: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • Marketing Education: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • Masonry: Safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Medical Laboratory and Assisting: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements (Please refer to the Student Handbook for school-appropriate dress).
  • Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies: Safety glasses, no hooded sweatshirts or loose clothing, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), Closed-toe Sneakers or Work Boots only  (No Crocs, sandals, or slippers)
  • Painting and Design: Safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Plumbing: Safety glasses, long pants -jeans/denim preferred (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Veterinary Science: Long pants (no sweat pants, leggings, or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
