Freshmen Exploratory Necessities

Many of Greater Lowell’s technical programs require certain clothing or safety items in order for students to fully participate. Below is a list of our technical programs and the necessary items they require for freshmen students to participate fully in their exploratory classes. Clothing must be appropriate for basic safety. All freshman students are provided with a pair of safety glasses at the beginning of the exploratory period. Additional pairs of safety glasses can be purchased at the school in the mall stores.

  • Auto Collision Repair: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Automotive Technology: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • C.A.D.D.: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Carpentry: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Cosmetology: Long pants (no pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Culinary Arts: Long pants (no pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only. Students with long fingernails must wear food service gloves (provided by school). Eyelash extensions are not allowed.
  • Design and Visual: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.
  • Early Childhood Education: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.

  • Electronics: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Engineering: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Graphics: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.
  • Health Assisting: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.
  • Hospitality: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.
  • HVAC/R: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Machine Technology: safety glasses, no hooded sweatshirts or loose clothing, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Marketing: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.
  • Masonry: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Medical Assisting: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.
  • Metal Fabrication: safety glasses, no hooded sweatshirts or loose clothing, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Painting & Design: safety glasses, long pants (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Plumbing: safety glasses, long pants -jeans/denim preferred (no sweat pants or pants with rips), work boots or sneakers only.
  • Programming & Web Design: No personal protective equipment/clothing requirements.
