Greater Lowell 37, KIPP 28: Greater Lowell star Aviren Chitpaseuth put together another strong game, scoring three times and rushing for 191 yards to help keep the Gryphons (4-0) undefeated Friday.
TYNGSBORO — Greater Lowell Technical High School students from the Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies, Automotive Collision and Carpentry programs worked with the Officer Sean A. Collier Memorial Fund and received scholarships and tools from the fund.
Coach Matt Murphy (6th season, 25-5): “We graduated a significant number of seniors who ran varsity for us in multiple seasons and were incredibly strong leaders. Senior Bella Stack and junior Emma Sullivan have stepped up to fill that leadership gap. This may be the youngest and deepest team I have ever coached with nine of my runners being sophomores or freshman already in shape to help us compete both in our conference and at the State Vocational championship this season.”
Greater Lowell Tech is the defending Commonwealth Athletic Conference boys soccer champion.
On Tuesday, the Gryphons played like they want to repeat, defeating rival Shawsheen Tech, 7-3.
Excelling for the Gryphons were Gio De Oliveira, Gabriel Soave and Alejandro Cano Gil.
As a Greater Lowell Tech junior, Chitpaseuth was a mainstay on both sides of the ball.
The running back gained 1,370 yards on 163 carries and scored 92 points. He also caught 16 passes for 170 yards. In three seasons, Chitpaseuth has rushed for 3,370 yards.
Defensively, the three-time CAC all-star made 67 tackles from his linebacker position.

A junior attack/midfielder, Finch helped the Gryphons finish with a 14-4 overall record, which included reaching the Division 3 state tournament.

One of two freshmen to make The Sun’s team, Dunfey was terrific as the Gryphons’ goalie, and was recognized as the CAC Goalie of the Year.

Named the co-MVP of the Commonwealth Athletic Conference Large School Division, a three-time league all-star and team MVP and a two-time Sun All-Star, Torpey was the No. 1 reason why the Gryphons finished with a 17-3 regular season record, the third best mark in program history.
More than 550 students and thousands of proud family and friends packed the Tsongas Center Friday to celebrate the 50th commencement exercises for the Greater Lowell Technical High School Class of 2024.
Greater Lowell Tech junior Justin Tejeda has registered 280 kills, 153 digs and 30 aces this season. His 235 serves received are among the best on the team, to go along with 36 blocks. He more than doubled his kills from last season.
